Approach
The modeling of business processes is an essential step in the process of reorganizing enterprises. Reorganization measures are only possible if the existing or planned processes are known. This method’s essential advantages for the user include:
● The possibility to describe and connect all aspects that are relevant for decisions, ● The easy comprehensibility and transparency of the process models, ● The possibility to easily evaluate the models with regard to optimizing main processes (Manufacturing products) and side processes (provision of resources and order control) by way of structuring the considered objects into products, resources and orders as well as, ● The clear description of the operational business processes and their connections.
Such an enterprise model represents a homogenous basis for discussion for all people involved in planning. Fraunhofer IPK has developed a methodology for business process reengineering which is mainly based on business process modeling and benchmarking.
Followings are some important features of this methodology:
● Modelling processes by Integrated Enterprise Modelling methodology and its supporting tool MOOGO ● Integrating the benchmarking Best Practices into the target processes ● Defining effects of improved processes in terms of costs, time (project duration) and quality according to the defined criteria and performance indicators ● Defining implementation projects and activities to implement the target processes integrated into the business activities ● Prioritizing and scheduling the implementation project and their dependencies into a project portfolio matrix |
